Pre Health Program Advising Coordinator Jobs (NOW HIRING)

The Health Professions Advising Center (HPAC) is seeking an Advising Coordinator.

Hiring budget for this position is between $65,447 to $70,356. The actual offer will be based on the candidate’s skills and experience.

This is a full time, on campus position (within commuting distance from Ithaca, NY). Some hybrid activities are possible, but the employee will be expected to be on campus regularly and frequently. Fully remote work is not available for this position.

Who we are:

The Health Professions Advising Center (HPAC) at Cornell University, a central unit that works in close partnership with the individual college advising offices, provides advising, education, and support to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students on the Ithaca campus, as well as recent alumni exploring and pursuing careers across the health professions, including medicine, dentistry, physician assistant, physical therapy, nursing, public health, veterinary medicine, and related fields.

Responsibilities:

The Health Professions Advising Coordinator serves as a key member of the HPAC team, being an accessible first point of contact for undergraduate students, prospective pre-health students, and alumni seeking information about health professions pathways.

The position provides foundational advising and educational support related to health professions exploration, prerequisite planning, application logistics, HPAC resources, and related student services, while referring complex advising matters to professional advisors. The Advising Coordinator also coordinates student programs, workshops, and events; collaborates with college advising offices, health professions programs, alumni, and other university partners.

The position also supports the day-to-day operations of HPAC, including management of the Bookings platform, oversight of the HPAC general email account, coordination and assessment of the Cornell Letter Packet process, website maintenance, and program and event logistics. In support of HPAC’s student advising and educational mission, the Advising Coordinator develops and coordinates communications and outreach, including the weekly newsletter, event promotions, presentations, handouts, website content, and other student-facing materials.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience in higher education, academic or career advising, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive and respectful working relationships with students, alumni, staff, faculty, and other colleagues outside of the university.
• Ability to synthesize and interpret data that will inform decisions aimed at aligning advising and administrative services to student, alumni and faculty needs.
• Excellent professional judgment in navigating challenges and prioritizing work tasks within the context of HPAC overall priorities.
• Experience utilizing and applying technology to enhance the student services experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to strategically communicate across HPAC team.
• Excellent organizational abilities; demonstrated ability to manage multiple short- and long-term projects and to submit high-quality deliverables on time.
• Ability to manage significant sensitive and confidential information.
• Experience modeling values that support inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing.
• Proven ability to successfully work in a collaborative team environment.
