Job description

Pre-Engineered Metal Building Erection Specialist

At Great Lakes Skilled Trades, we build teams that build the Midwest. As a fast-growing skilled labor contractor, we connect top craft professionals with strong, long-term opportunities. We have immediate openings for PEMB specialists who value steady work and real career growth.

A day in this role

You arrive on a commercial site, review the plan with the foreman, and prep for the lift. As the crane swings into position, you handle rigging and shake-outs, signal the operator, and help guide steel members into place. You connect and bolt beams, purlins, and girders. By afternoon, you’re installing siding and roofing and adding insulation to complete the building envelope—always with safety front and center and assisting with other tasks the foreman assigns.

What you’ll do
  • Erect commercial pre-engineered metal buildings
  • Manage rigging, handle shake-outs, and provide accurate crane signals
  • Connect and bolt structural members: beams, purlins, and girders
  • Install siding, roofing, and insulation systems
  • Support additional site tasks as directed by the foreman
What you bring
  • 1+ years of experience with PEMB projects
  • Personal basic hand tools
  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation
  • Solid understanding of construction site safety
  • Reliability and the ability to follow direction
Pay and perks

Starting pay: $22.00/h - $30.00/h

  • Consistent work
  • Competitive pay
  • Insurance options: Health, life, vision, dental
  • Paid time off
