Job description

Commercial Construction Superintendent

Location: Northern Virginia / DC / Southern Maryland / Eastern WV

Salary: $95,000–$125,000 + Performance Bonus

Type: Full-Time

The Opportunity

We’re partnering with a highly established commercial general contractor with more than 100 years of history in the Mid-Atlantic to add multiple experienced Superintendents to its growing field team.

We’re looking for a true field leader - someone who knows how to take ownership of a commercial jobsite, lead subcontractors, protect the schedule, solve problems in real time, and deliver a quality project from start to finish.

Ground-up commercial construction experience is strongly preferred, although experienced Superintendents with strong tenant improvement, renovation, or base-building backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.

Pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) experience is a plus.

What You’ll Do

  • Take ownership of day-to-day field operations on commercial construction projects
  • Lead and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel
  • Develop and maintain short-term lookahead schedules and coordinate sequencing
  • Ensure manpower, materials, and equipment are in place to keep projects on schedule
  • Maintain high standards for safety, quality, and jobsite organization
  • Review plans, specifications, and scopes of work and proactively resolve field issues
  • Manage daily logs, RFIs, as-builts, punch lists, and project documentation
  • Partner closely with Project Managers throughout construction
  • Communicate directly with owners and clients and serve as a trusted field representative
  • Drive projects through successful completion and closeout

What We’re Looking For

  • 5–10+ years of commercial construction Superintendent experience preferred
  • Strong ground-up commercial construction experience highly preferred
  • Tenant improvement, commercial interiors, renovation, and base-building experience also considered
  • Proven ability to independently lead a commercial jobsite
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, scheduling, sequencing, and subcontractor management
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to direct trades and interact professionally with clients
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, and Microsoft Office preferred
  • PEMB / pre-engineered metal building experience is a plus
  • OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR certification preferred or ability to obtain quickly

Project Territory

Projects are located throughout Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Southern Maryland, Fredericksburg, VA, and into the Ranson, WV area. Candidates should be centrally located enough to reasonably commute throughout the project territory.

This is a field-based Superintendent position and will require regular onsite presence at assigned projects.

Why Consider It?

  • $95K–$125K base salary, depending on experience and leadership capabilities
  • Performance-based bonus opportunity
  • 100% company-paid base health plan
  • Dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 401(k) match and paid time off
  • Tuition reimbursement and fitness program
  • Strong support from an established project management team
  • Direct access to company leadership
  • Opportunity to take real ownership of the field rather than simply execute someone else’s plan
  • Stability of a commercial contractor with more than a century of history

If you’re an experienced commercial Superintendent who takes pride in owning the field, leading people, and delivering high-quality projects, we’d like to connect.
