Job description

We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking a Construction Manager to work in a leadership role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time position requiring up to 90% travel, based in one of our 45 U.S. office locations. 


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
In this position, you will:

Safety:

  • Lead Site Safety Culture by adhering to the project HASP, leading daily Job Hazard Analysis and tailgate meetings, manages construction activities for HASP compliance, performs daily SAFE WORK and Behavioral Based Safety observations.
  • Act as the ultimate decision-maker during life-threatening emergency situations involving facilities, people and property.
  • Perform the role of Competent Excavation Person on Site (with requisite OSHA training).

General/Administration:

  • Lead onsite Plan of the Day (POD) meetings.
  • Manage day-to-day construction activities. Prioritize work to ensure critical work is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with the Contract Requirements.
  • Understand heavy equipment capabilities and identify what equipment is required for the work/project.
  • Interface with Engineering and other functional groups to resolve technical problems.
  • Document site activities and composes/compiles Daily Field Reports (DFRs). Compile a photo log consisting of daily progress pictures documented with detailed descriptions and dates.
  • Digitally input and upload daily reports, work permits, and safety documentation via laptop and tablet.
  • Compile RFI's for Project Manager Review/approval.
  • Assist in documenting the daily tracking of material deliveries, disposal quantities, hours, and other project metrics.
  • Miscellaneous duties as required or assigned.

Subcontractor Management:

  • Perform review of submittals for completeness.
  • Consult with subcontractors regarding staff/worker levels and equipment utilization necessary for safe work performance and schedule maintenance.
  • Monitor subcontractor work for compliance with drawings, subcontract terms and conditions, and project specifications.
  • Obtain schedule information from subcontractor(s); ensure that it is included in the project master schedule.
  • Resolve any coordination issues.
  • Responsible for review and approval of subcontractor daily and weekly reports, preparation of daily and weekly field reports and quantity documentation as required.
  • Prepare Work Authorizations, Change Orders, Work Change Directives, and Requests for information for Project Manager review/approval.

Schedule Management:

  • Assist in the development project schedules and cost estimates.
  • Ensure subcontractor schedules are incorporated within the Project Schedule.
  • Coordinate all work in accordance with the Project Schedule.

Permitting:

  • Secure required construction permits.
  • Monitor work for compliance with permit requirements and coordinate with municipal representatives for conducting permit compliance inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with required construction permits.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Skills and Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management; no degree required with commensurate experience.
  • 7+ years of experience working on-site at environmental projects with progressive experience in construction management, proposal/budget development, estimating, and procurement.
  • Proven ability to develop and use materials, services and equipment specifications common to construction needs to purchase on a local and national level.
  • Expertise in heavy civil remediation such as solidification and stabilization.
  • Experience working with the construction, excavation and/or demolition of site infrastructure related to environmental remediation of structures, soil, and groundwater.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to safety, strong leadership skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management methods and application to managing work, and proficiency in the use of Bluebeam or Adobe, and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project, with commensurate computer skills.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Training (29 CFR 1910120) and OSHA 30-Hour Construction Training.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position: lift 75 lbs. unassisted, traverse unstable/sloping sites and landscapes, work outside in a range of weather conditions, and have the stamina for moderate physical activity for the majority of field working hours.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass Respiratory Clearance, a pre-employment drug screen, and background check.

Preferred Skills:

  • Demonstrated familiarity with Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and Dust Monitoring Plans.
  • Experience with environmental remediation.
  • Proficiency in the use of Primavera or Prolog.
  • OSHA Competent Person Certification.

The salary range for this position Nationwide is 115,000-140,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions.
