Description

Bailey sold its first forklift in 1949. Since then Bailey has been a family-owned and operated business dedicated to selling, leasing, renting, servicing, and providing parts for forklift trucks throughout the southeast.  

Apprentice Technicians are responsible for performing planned maintenance(P.M.) service (change oil, filters, inspections etc.) and assisting in scheduling maintenance work based on customer needs and requirements. Apprentices are dedicated to customer satisfaction, responding in a timely, polite and professional manner. Apprentice Technician assignments may vary by make and model of lift truck, complexity of the work to be performed, and time and tools required to complete the work on a daily basis. One day may require planned maintenance on multiple trucks at one location, and the next day require planned maintenance work on trucks at multiple locations. Some jobs may require lifting up to 50 pounds with or without an accommodation. An Apprentice's work typically includes completing full inspections to check all components, especially all safety related items. Apprentices will either fix the problem or make customers aware of the problem, recommending repairs and offering quotes for the needed repairs, such as battery replacement, and then completing any necessary paperwork.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform P.M. Service and inspections as directed. Get input from customer.
  • Make repairs or recommendations as needed using appropriate tools and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Clean work area and return to pre-repair or better condition.
  • Maintain good working records for time, parts, supplies and outside purchases in repairs. Maintain daily records of P.M.s for correct service billing. Write legibly.
  • Maintain and care for tools, equipment and vehicles. Notify management of the need for repairs or replacements.
  • Participate in job related training, including supporting the safety program, and maintain licenses and certifications to avoid expirations.
  • Represent Bailey as a professional by maintaining professional appearance, wearing uniform, keeping the vehicle and work areas clean, and being courteous and informative with customers.
  • Handle other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

Experience/Training/Education:

  • Strong diagnostic and repair skills
  • Strong mechanical skills
  • A technical school certificate or equivalent experience in mechanical repairs is preferred

Licenses Required:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Forklift Certification (provided by Bailey)

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:

  • Strong communication and problem solving skills
  • Good computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
