Practice Performance Consultant information

What is a practice performance consultant?

Practice Performance Consultants are professionals who work with healthcare practices to improve their operational efficiency, patient care, and overall business performance. They analyze workflows, identify opportunities for improvement, and help implement best practices in areas such as billing, scheduling, compliance, and patient satisfaction. Their goal is to help medical practices run more smoothly, increase profitability, and enhance the quality of care patients receive.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a practice performance consultant?

To thrive as a Practice Performance Consultant, you need expertise in healthcare operations, data analysis, and quality improvement, usually supported by a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or a related field. Familiarity with practice management software, electronic health records (EHRs), and performance analytics tools is typically required. Strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills help consultants influence practice change and collaborate effectively with clinical teams. These skills are vital for identifying improvement opportunities, driving operational efficiency, and supporting practices in delivering high-quality patient care.

How does a practice performance consultant typically collaborate with healthcare teams to drive improvements?

Practice Performance Consultants work closely with physicians, administrators, and clinical staff to analyze workflows, identify inefficiencies, and implement best practices. They often facilitate regular meetings, provide data-driven insights, and offer training or coaching to help teams achieve organizational goals such as improved patient outcomes or operational efficiency. Collaboration is key, as consultants must build strong relationships and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the practice. Their role often requires balancing analytical work with hands-on engagement to ensure changes are both practical and sustainable.

Job description

Senior Consultant – Extended Workforce Advisory

The Senior Consultant – Extended Workforce Advisory is a consulting-led, client-facing role responsible for advising organizations on Extended Workforce strategy, operating model design, and program optimization. This role focuses on discovery, assessment, and future-state design rather than hands-on technology configuration or program execution. You will work with senior Procurement, HR, Talent, and IT leaders to assess existing Extended Workforce programs, define target operating models, and develop actionable roadmaps spanning governance, processes, technology, and change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Advisory & Consulting Delivery: Support and lead client advisory engagements focused on Extended Workforce strategy and transformation. Apply QWA’s consulting and design thinking methodologies to assess current-state programs and define future-state solutions. Design and facilitate on-site and virtual workshops with senior stakeholders to validate findings and align on direction. Prepare and present executive-level recommendations, insights, and decision materials.

  • Extended Workforce Strategy & Service Design: Assess MSP, services procurement, and Extended Workforce programs across governance, processes, and capabilities. Design future-state operating models including governance structures, RASCI models, and funding approaches. Identify opportunities to improve workforce visibility, compliance, cost management, and experience. Build clear roadmaps supporting program maturity and long-term scalability.

  • Research, Analysis & Design Thinking: Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to assess current-state performance and market alignment. Create visual artifacts such as operating model diagrams, journey maps, architecture views, and roadmap materials. Stay current on Extended Workforce trends, technologies, and leading practices. Contribute to whitepapers, point-of-view content, and internal knowledge assets.

  • Technology Enablement Advisory: In partnership with the QWA project team and Solution Architect: Advise on Extended Workforce technology ecosystems including VMS, analytics, AI, automation, and integrations. Recommend optimization of existing platforms or introduction of new tools aligned to business objectives. Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical specialists, translating requirements into clear direction.

  • Practice Development & Growth: Contribute to the development of QWA intellectual property including methodologies, playbooks, and toolkits. Stay current on market trends, talent technology innovations, and leading practices. Identify opportunities to support clients through additional advisory services and program expansion.
