Job description

Position Overview

The Department of Urology at Albany Medical College is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our busy and collaborative general urology practice. This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive outpatient urologic care in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Position Highlights
  • Full-time Monday-Friday schedule
  • Clinic hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Upon completion of onboarding and training, four 10-hour days may be available
  • Primary sites: South Clinical Campus (Albany) and Niskayuna
  • Average 18-20 patients per day once fully trained
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a wide range of general urologic conditions
  • See both scheduled patients and same-day urgent add-ons for concerns such as hematuria, urinary tract infections, elevated PSA, and kidney stones
  • Perform in-office procedures, including testosterone and Eligard injections
  • Conduct patient education, follow-up visits, and medication management
  • Collaborate closely with attending urologists, nursing staff, and administrative support staff to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including imaging and laboratory studies
  • Document patient encounters and treatment plans accurately in the electronic health record
  • Participate in quality improvement and practice efficiency initiatives
Qualifications
  • License and active registration as a registered nurse/nurse practitioner or physician assistant in New York State
  • Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Familiarity working in electronic medical records; Epic experience a plus
  • Collaborate effectively across various departments to ensure cohesive, patient-centered care and a positive work environment
  • Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality
