Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer (VDI) in Newington, VA to support a mission-critical Department of Defense customer. This position will serve as a senior engineer responsible for the design, administration, optimization, and security of a large-scale Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on expertise with Omnissa Horizon (VMware Horizon), VMware vSphere, endpoint management, automation, and secure enterprise desktop solutions. Key Responsibilities: * Build, update, test, and deploy VDI master images and desktop pools * Manage thin-client devices and endpoint configurations using enterprise management platforms * Support profile management solutions to provide a seamless and reliable end-user experience * Develop and maintain PowerShell automation scripts to improve operational efficiency * Perform pre-production testing and validation of VDI image updates, patches, configuration changes, and monitor VDI performance * Ensure VDI environments comply with DoD security requirements, including DISA STIG implementation * Collaborate with systems, network, cybersecurity, and customer teams to support mission objectives Required Qualifications: * Active TS/SCI clearance required
* Bachelor's degree * 8+ years of systems engineering or related experience * Current CompTIA Security+ certification required
* Hands-on experience supporting Omnissa Horizon (VMware Horizon) hosted on VMware vSphere
* Experience managing thin-client environments, including Dell Wyse or similar platforms
* Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills * Knowledge of Group Policy (GPO) management within VDI environments * Familiarity with DISA STIG compliance requirements * Experience with VDI monitoring and performance management tools Work Location: * On-site in Newington, VA
