About this Role
Power Engineering Services, a Quanta Services Company, is looking for an Assistant Estimator to join our team in Converse, TX. This is an entry level position.
The Assistant Estimator supports the Estimating Department by performing foundational estimating tasks such as takeoffs, bid sheet preparation, document extraction, and proposal assembly for third-party electrical acceptance testing, maintenance testing, and commissioning work. Working under close supervision, they maintain accuracy, organization, and timeliness while building familiarity with Power Engineering Services processes and the ANSI/NETA ATS, MTS, and ECS standards that govern the company's scope of work as a NETA Accredited Company.
What You'll Do
  • Review RFQs, extract project documents, and identify missing information.
  • Perform electrical equipment takeoffs using Bluebeam and identify project scope.
  • Prepare bid sheets by accurately estimating labor, materials, travel, and equipment costs.
  • Assemble customer proposals and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Develop working knowledge of ANSI/NETA ATS, MTS, and ECS standards and apply them to project scopes.
  • Maintain organized project files and follow company document management procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and internal teams throughout the estimating process.
  • Deliver accurate proposals and estimates on schedule while escalating issues that may impact deadlines.

What You'll Bring
  • 0-2 years of estimating, electrical testing, or related construction experience.
  • Developing ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, Bluebeam, the Power Engineering Services bid sheet, and Azure folder structure.
  • Introductory awareness of ANSI/NETA ATS, MTS, and ECS standards.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational discipline, and professional communication.
  • Ability to follow defined processes consistently and manage time proactively.
