Job Title: Power Electronics Design Engineer
Location: West Fargo, ND

Job Description: We are seeking a Power Electronics Design Engineer to develop and evaluate innovative design solutions for power electronic assemblies such as 3-phase inverters and DC/DC converters. The role focuses on improving cost, quality, and performance through strong electronic design expertise and cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, mechanical, software, and supplier teams. The engineer will analyze technical requirements, create design documentation, and support prototype development and product validation. Additionally, you will develop and execute test plans to ensure product reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and evaluate power electronic systems including inverters and DC/DC converters
  • Analyze technical requirements and develop optimal engineering solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for product development and implementation
  • Prepare engineering documentation, reports, and design analysis data
  • Develop and execute validation and verification test plans
  • Support prototype builds and transition designs into production

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in electronic circuit design
  • Understanding of embedded systems, microprocessors, and mechanical packaging
  • Knowledge of testing, manufacturing, and quality processes
  • Ability to adapt electronic designs to vehicle or industrial applications
  • Experience applying engineering principles, standards, and procedures
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

Preferred Experience:

  • Product design lifecycle experience (concept to production)
  • Design for harsh environments
  • 3-phase motor control inverter design and validation
  • DC/DC power electronics design
  • Knowledge of hybrid or electric vehicle systems
  • Experience with MathCAD, simulation tools, and schematic capture tools (Mentor Graphics)
  • Familiarity with microcontroller and FPGA-based designs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
