Job description

Overview

BAI, a defense contractor, is seeking a Senior System Engineer with 12+ years of experience designing, developing, and sustaining electrical and electronic systems with a focus on RF, radar, and communications sensing capability. This role will be responsible for product and system requirement development and satisfaction by test. This position will support hardware, circuitry, software and middleware configuration sets and management of repeatable quality in sustaining that documented end item configuration and technical documentation. This role is in an integrated team and supports a direct program resident at Point Mugu, Ca. Salary

The typical annual salary range for this position is $120,000.00 USD to $180,000.00 USD. Salary will be based on current qualifications, directly related experience, geographic location, and possible contractual requirements which could fall outside of this range.

Responsibilities
  • Provide over-all System Level Engineering services
  • Provide RF, Radar, and Communications sensing and targeting development, design, and operations solutions to a broad range of spectrum mission sets.
  • Perform link budget analysis for communication and radar systems
  • Define and support the design of antennas, matching networks, RF front-end components (PAs, LNAs, mixers, filters)
  • Define and direct the technical input for remote platform & payload controls
  • Provide system and subsystem build to print manufacturing support and direction for direct quality control management
  • Direct and guide the use of test bench equipment and simulation tools such as ADS, SystemVue, CST, FEKO for component and subsystem evaluation and modeling
  • Develop and validate RF designs from schematics through layout to test
  • Collaborate (and perhaps design) with FPGA/DSP/software teams for signal chain integration in Vivado/System Verilog
  • Prepare and redline design documentation, test plans, and review materials
Qualifications
  • 12 years’ experience as a system level engineer with a specialty as an RF/Communications Engineer
  • 5 years of RF design experience
  • Proficient in ADS, SystemVue, CST, FEKO, or similar tools
  • Experience with telemetry, radar, and communications systems
  • Experience in evaluating and defining antenna design
  • Knowledge of DSP concepts, modulation, I/Q waveforms
  • Hands-on experience with VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators
  • Experience with FPGA design and integration, especially with modern FPGA's such as those in Xilinx SoC's (Versal, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills-verbal, non-verbal, written, and listening-for staff, customer, and organizational level communications, both formal and informal.
  • Ability to work independently, self-starter.
  • Working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

EDUCATION

Degree: BS in Electrical Engineering (MS/PhD preferred) or other relevant technical discipline

CLEARANCE- Minimum of SECRET

Condition of Employment: Applicant must have an active DoD SECRET Clearance with the ability to elevate it to TS. The applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to controlled and classified information.
