SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

The Manager, Data & Business Intelligence leads the organization’s data strategy, reporting, analytics, and business intelligence capabilities in support of blood collection, donor recruitment, laboratory testing, manufacturing, distribution, quality, finance, and administrative operations. This role is responsible for developing reliable, actionable insights through Power BI dashboards, enterprise reporting, data governance, and analytics solutions that improve operational performance, regulatory readiness, donor engagement, and decision-making across the blood center.

Essential Responsibilities:

Business Intelligence Strategy & Power BI Leadership (35%)

  • Lead the design, development, deployment, and lifecycle management of enterprise Power BI dashboards, reports, semantic models, and analytics solutions.

  • Establish a scalable business intelligence roadmap that supports blood center priorities, including donor recruitment, collections, inventory availability, laboratory testing, manufacturing, distribution, quality, finance, and executive reporting.

  • Translate operational and leadership questions into measurable KPIs, actionable dashboards, and recurring reporting products.

  • Promote self-service analytics and data literacy while maintaining appropriate standards for accuracy, access, and governance.

Data Governance, Quality & Integration (25%)

  • Establish and maintain data governance practices for definitions, ownership, lineage, access, validation, retention, and quality control.

  • Partner with IT, operations, quality, finance, and clinical stakeholders to integrate data from donor management, laboratory, manufacturing, distribution, ERP, CRM, and other enterprise systems.

  • Ensure Power BI datasets, dashboards, and reports are accurate, timely, secure, documented, and aligned with approved business definitions.

  • Identify and resolve reporting issues, data quality gaps, and process inconsistencies that affect operational decision-making.

Operational Analytics & Performance Improvement (20%)

  • Develop analytics that monitor blood center performance across donor recruitment, appointment conversion, collections, product availability, test turnaround, manufacturing yield, wastage, distribution, customer service, and financial outcomes.

  • Provide insights that support forecasting, capacity planning, inventory management, service line performance, and strategic initiatives.

  • Support audit readiness and compliance reporting by ensuring analytics processes align with FDA, AABB, HIPAA, and organizational quality requirements.

  • Present trends, risks, opportunities, and recommendations to leaders in a clear, actionable manner.

Business Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement (10%)

  • Collaborate with leaders across collections, donor recruitment, laboratory, manufacturing, distribution, quality, finance, human resources, and executive administration to understand reporting needs and business priorities.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor on Power BI capabilities, data interpretation, metric design, reporting automation, and analytics best practices.

  • Facilitate requirements gathering, dashboard reviews, user acceptance testing, training, and adoption of BI solutions.

Team Leadership & Development (10%)

  • Lead, coach, and develop data analysts, BI developers, and reporting specialists responsible for delivering analytics products and services.

  • Establish standards for dashboard design, documentation, testing, deployment, change control, and customer support.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, service excellence, continuous improvement, and responsible use of data.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Information Systems, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, Statistics, Business Administration, or related field required.

  • Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 7–10+ years of progressive experience in data analytics, business intelligence, reporting, data management, or related technology functions.

  • 3–5+ years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.

  • Advanced experience designing and managing Power BI dashboards, reports, datasets, dataflows, semantic models, and workspace governance.

  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases, data warehouses, ETL/ELT processes, and integrated enterprise data sources.

  • Experience developing KPIs and analytics for healthcare, life sciences, blood banking, regulated manufacturing, supply chain, or complex operational environments.

  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, privacy, security, validation, and compliance practices in a regulated environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Power BI certification, Microsoft Fabric experience, or related data analytics certification.

  • Experience with blood center systems, donor management platforms, laboratory information systems, ERP systems, CRM tools, or supply chain applications.

  • Experience with data modeling, DAX, Power Query, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure data services, APIs, HL7, or other integration methods.

  • Familiarity with FDA, AABB, HIPAA, GxP, audit readiness, and quality management practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex data insights to executive, technical, and operational audiences.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

  • Work Environment: Hybrid (in-office and remote).

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.

  • Travel: Occasional travel for site visits or vendor meetings.

  • Schedule: Standard business hours with after-hours support as needed.
