Overview:
Job Title: Power BI Developer
Location: Tampa, FL

Job Summary
We are looking for a Power BI Developer to design, develop, and maintain business intelligence solutions that turn data into actionable insights. The ideal candidate is strong in Power BI, data modeling, DAX, SQL, and has experience building scalable dashboards and reports for multiple stakeholder groups. You'll work closely with business, data engineering, and product teams to deliver high-quality analytics.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and scorecards aligned to business KPIs.
  • Build and optimize data models (star/snowflake schemas) using Power Query and Dataflows.
  • Write advanced DAX measures, calculated columns, and time-intelligence logic.
  • Develop reliable ETL/ELT pipelines using Power Query, SQL, and/or Azure/GCP/AWS data services.
  • Connect Power BI to multiple data sources (SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Databricks, APIs, Excel, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Ensure data accuracy, performance tuning, and refresh reliability (incremental refresh, partitions, query optimization).
  • Implement role-based security (RLS), workspace governance, and dataset best practices.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into reporting solutions.
  • Document report logic, data definitions, and deployment steps for knowledge transfer.
  • Support UAT, production rollouts, and ongoing enhancements/bug fixes.
Mandatory Skills / Qualifications
  • 3-8+ years in BI/Analytics with strong Power BI hands-on.
  • Expertise in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Gateways, Workspaces, Apps.
  • Strong DAX and Power Query (M language) skills.
  • Strong SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling and BI reporting standards.
  • Experience with data refresh scheduling, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain insights to technical and non-technical users.
Preferred / Good-to-Have
  • Experience with Azure (ADF, Synapse, ADLS), Databricks, Snowflake, or other cloud data platforms.
  • Familiarity with Python/R for analytics or automation.
  • Understanding of data governance, cataloging, and security practices.
  • Power BI certification (PL-300 or equivalent).
  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum delivery.
