Job description

Position Title: Power BI Developer

Location: Tallahassee, FL

Engagement Type: Staff Augmentation Contract

Work Mode: On-site (5 days per week)

Duration: 10 Months (08/20/2026 – 06/30/2027, with potential extension)

Interview Type: In Person or Microsoft Teams

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Applications Development Analyst and Power BI Developer to support the modernization and transition of enterprise reporting and financial systems. This role is responsible for analyzing legacy reporting structures (including Mainframe FOCUS and WebFOCUS), converting queries to T-SQL, creating Power BI dataflows and reports, and collaborating with business stakeholders and technical teams to establish streamlined data solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze existing data environments and structures to identify required transformations prior to dashboard development.

  • Collaborate with organizational management to define and execute an overall reporting roadmap.

  • Review existing reports with business users to identify enhancements that align with evolving requirements.

  • Work with developers and end users to automate data transformations, minimizing reliance on manual spreadsheets and pivot tables.

  • Analyze, document, and convert legacy WebFOCUS and Mainframe FOCUS queries into standard T-SQL queries.

  • Collaborate with database administrators to design database views and stored procedures that support Power BI reporting.

  • Build dataflows, manage dedicated workspaces, and maintain paginated reports within Power BI.

  • Analyze financial data structures and provide recommendations to enhance financial system data models.

  • Deliver targeted training and guidance to internal business staff on utilizing Power BI reports.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Business Intelligence: Minimum 3 years of experience in Business Intelligence development.

  • Power BI: Minimum 2 years of experience designing and developing dashboards and paginated reports in Microsoft Power BI.

  • Database & Querying: Hands-on experience with IBM DB2 databases and strong SQL skills (including T-SQL, stored procedures, and database views).

  • Legacy System Analysis: Experience reading, documenting, and transitioning Mainframe FOCUS / WebFOCUS queries and Mainframe flat files.

  • Data Management: Solid working knowledge of data governance, Data Warehousing, Operational Data Stores, Data Lakes, and Master Data Management concepts.

  • Data Modeling: Experience with advanced data structures, including OLAP cubes and Star/Snowflake schemas.

  • Domain Experience: Experience building reports focused on financial data (e.g., general ledger, purchasing, or revenue).

  • Methodologies & Integration: Knowledge of the SCRUM framework and familiarity with integrating Power BI with Microsoft Power Automate, Power Apps, PowerPoint, and Teams.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technology or finance-related field (relevant work experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis).

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Oracle Data Warehouse.

  • Exposure to mainframe programming languages, computer systems, and supporting software.

  • Experience working with enterprise resource planning (ERP) financial systems.

  • Direct experience with WebFOCUS development.

  • Work Schedule: Full-time on-site presence (5 days per week) in Tallahassee, FL. Telecommuting is not available for this role.
