The Junior Power BI / Data Analyst will support departmental decision-making by designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI. This role involves creating insightful dashboards, visualizations, and reports to provide actionable information, streamline processes, and enhance the department's strategic and operational goals. Learn new software or digital platforms as needed for your role. Stay aware of basic cybersecurity and data privacy practices. Essential Functions Data Analysis and Visualization Maintain, refine, and expand interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations in Power BI to meet evolving business needs.

Develop new visuals/pages, ensuring they align with departmental objectives, accessibility standards, and user experience best practices. Use DAX and Power Query to prepare and transform data for analysis. Explore datasets to uncover trends, seasonality, anomalies, or operational gaps, and summarize findings for stakeholders.

Data Analysis and Visualization Maintain, refine, and expand interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations in Power BI to meet evolving business needs. Develop new visuals/pages, ensuring they align with departmental objectives, accessibility standards, and user experience best practices. Use DAX and Power Query to prepare and transform data for analysis.

Explore datasets to uncover trends, seasonality, anomalies, or operational gaps, and summarize findings for stakeholders. Data Integration and Management Monitor, refresh, and troubleshoot scheduled data connections from multiple sources, including Excel, SharePoint, and other centralized storage solutions. Assist in optimizing data models, documenting relationships and calculations to uphold data integrity.

Learn and work with business-specific platforms where data is stored, such as Lightspeed, quickly adapting to new systems as needed. Build and maintain organized data structures to support accurate reporting and analysis. Collaborate with ITS to ensure seamless, reliable data integration, version control, and process documentation.

Develop SharePoint lists and document libraries to centralize data collection, project tracking, and file sharing. Proactively identify manual processes that can be automated or simplified, reducing human error and saving time. Decision Support Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics used for evaluation.

Translate business questions into clear technical requirements and simple Power BI solutions. Deliver concise insights that inform strategic planning, resource allocation, and operational efficiency. Collaboration and Training Partner with department leaders to understand reporting needs and develop tailored solutions.

Create short 'how-to' guides or conduct quick training sessions to help non-technical users navigate and leverage Power BI reports. Continuous Improvement Stay current with Power BI updates and industry best practices, sharing relevant tips with the team. Proactively suggest and document incremental enhancements to reporting processes and workflows.

Participate in departmental projects and initiatives, offering data-driven perspectives and support. Minimum Qualifications Current student in good academic standing. Working toward a degree in Business, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data cleaning). Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI or a willingness to learn quickly. Understanding of data visualization principles (charts, dashboards, reports).

Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and communicate findings in a clear and concise way. Demonstrated critical thinking and a detail-oriented approach to tasks. Strong written and verbal communication skills to work with both technical and non-technical team members.
