Powder Coating Technician

The Powder Coating Technician is responsible for efficient operation of the powder coating procedures and overall operations. This includes basic set up and shut down of powder coating facility, maintaining wash system, basic cleaning and testing for quality. The team member will work with other team members to provide an excellent customer experience for all customers.

Status: Hourly Non-Exempt Position Type: Full-time Hours: 40-45 hrs Schedule: M-F

Reports to: Production Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support company values and mission through respect, continuous improvement, and safety
  • Apply Lean Thinking to teamwork and processes (waste, flow, level work, etc.)
  • Daily operation of powder coating procedures and other operations
  • Daily organizing and cleaning of powder area
  • Basic set up and shut down of powder coating facility and equipment
  • Maintaining wash system and testing for quality
  • Hang parts as needed and directed by team leader
  • Wash parts as trained and at the direction of the team leader and then put them into the dry off/ curing oven using track/trolley system
  • Coat parts using standard powder coating techniques
  • Cure coated parts in oven
  • Actively participate in problem solving and continuous improvement within a team.
  • Support and help in other areas as the manufacturing schedule dictates.
  • Other duties as needed: Job duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time and may include potential transfers to other departments and local facilities.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of powder coat ovens and wash systems
  • Must be detail oriented and able to pay close attention to detail

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Prior use of GEMA and Nordson Powder coating guns
  • Minimum of one years' powder coating experience
  • Knowledge of powder coat ovens and wash systems

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a manufacturing setting. May be subject to the current local weather conditions.
