Job description

Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM
We are seeking an experienced Lead Powder Coat Painter to oversee daily powder coating operations while actively contributing to production. This position serves as a technical leader on the coating team, ensuring products are prepared, coated, cured, and inspected according to customer specifications and company quality standards. The Lead Powder Coat Painter will assist with workflow coordination, provide training and guidance to team members, troubleshoot coating issues, and help drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support daily powder coating operations to meet production schedules and quality expectations
  • Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to Powder Coat Painters and production team members
  • Load and prepare parts for coating, ensuring proper surface preparation and fixture setup
  • Operate and monitor powder coating equipment, including paint guns, hoppers, and booth collection systems
  • Adjust paint flow, coating thickness, viscosity, and equipment settings to achieve high-quality finishes
  • Monitor curing oven temperatures and bake cycles to ensure proper coating adhesion and durability
  • Perform quality inspections and verify products meet customer specifications and company standards
  • Troubleshoot coating defects, equipment issues, and process inconsistencies
  • Review production priorities and coordinate work assignments to maximize efficiency
  • Promote and enforce workplace safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and respirators
  • Assist supervisors with process improvements, inventory management, and production reporting

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of powder coating, industrial painting, or related manufacturing experience
  • Previous leadership, lead, or training experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of powder coating processes, equipment, and quality standards
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to complete required Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) and Fit Test (FIT)
  • Ability to occasionally wear a respirator as required
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screen
