Poultry Processing Shift Manager Job Description
Job Summary: Works hand in hand with Plant Manager to control the production operation. Oversees and directs production supervisors during their assigned shift, while ensuring compliance with regulations, maintaining efficiency, and managing personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Make sure all safety standards are being applied.
  • Oversees start-up and set-up.
  • Coordinates all daily activities with supervisors.
  • Makes sure products are being ran correctly (quality, packaging).
  • Assures product wholesomeness.
  • Communicates with Quality, Maintenance, all shift production and Sanitation.
  • Responsible for answering unfavorable variances with the plant.
  • Responsible for USDA concerns.
  • Takes care of employee issues and human resource issues.
  • Coordinates rework from freezer.
  • Makes sure everyone is notified of schedule changes (production, maintenance, supply, and QA).
  • Ensures standards are met for every product.
  • Supervisory experience in poultry production facility required; cook plant or par fry experience preferred.
  • This is a safety sensitive position.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages supervisors with hourly employees in the plant. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree or 3 + years' experience in related field.
Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
