Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Hatchery Manager, the Shipping Lead performs all duties necessary to ensure that all processes related to shipping orders are completed accurately, safely, and on schedule. This role is central to coordinating USPS chick shipments and commercial deliveries and requires close collaboration with Order Fulfillment and Logistics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Stages skids for chick boxes per delivery schedule for USPS
  • Loads chicks onto skids per delivery schedule for USPS
  • Straps skids and ensures they are loaded on the correct truck per USPS schedule
  • Assists in Order Fulfillment, including the postal station, box label placement, strapping, and packing chicks
  • Assists as needed in other hatchery areas on non-USPS days
  • Assists with loading of trucks for commercial deliveries
  • Assists with filter and truck washing on non-hatch days
  • Coordinates commercial deliveries with the Logistics Supervisor and loads trucks per schedule
  • Assists as needed to gather supplies for egg pick-ups
  • Coordinates with Order Fulfillment/Logistics Supervisor to unload fowl delivered

Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) proficiency
  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret important instructions, guidelines, and/or communications and respond accordingly
  • Must be willing to handle live poultry
