Job description

Weekdays. Either five 8-hour days or four 10-hour days.

Job Description

The Perioperative RN is responsible for coordinating and managing safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care for surgical patients throughout the perioperative process including the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases. The nurse will provide support, education, and direct care to patients while acting as a liaison between the surgical team and the patient families/support systems. Utilizing a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to patient care, the perioperative nurse works closely with the entire surgical team.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage care for surgical patients across all perioperative phases.
  • Support and educate patients and their families regarding the surgical process.
  • Act as a liaison between the surgical team and patient families/support systems.
  • Function as Circulating Nurse, 1st Scrub Nurse, or 2nd Scrub Nurse based on experience and training.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in perioperative nursing.
  • Gastroenterology / Endoscopy Lab experience is required.
  • Experience with orthopedic, general surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, ENT surgical procedures, and interventional pain management.
  • Current licensure as RN in good standing.
  • Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
  • Cerner EHR experience is required.
  • BSN is desired but not required.
