The Regional Hotel/Resort Engineer is responsible for the overall aesthetic condition and quality of the hotel spaces onboard American Cruise Lines’ ships. The Engineer works closely with Hotel Operations and Hotel Maintenance and Refurbishment to keep the ships in good condition in accordance with the company’s standards and guest expectations. During the operating season the Engineer will travel to the ships to evaluate, inspect and repair all hotel spaces that require attention. During the planned layup season the Engineer will oversee regional refurbishment, maintenance and repair projects to prepare the ships to return to service in good working order and improved vessel quality. This position is part of the Hotel Maintenance and Refurbishment Team and reports to the Director of Hotel Standards

Responsibilities
  • Oversee a comprehensive preventative hotel maintenance program for a group of passenger vessels in a region to minimize downtime and enhance guest experience.
  • Supervise, schedule, evaluate, and develop hotel maintenance and refurbishment technicians and project managers
  • Prepare ship visit reports after each visit listing deficiencies that were noted and corrective action taken or planned
  • Manage hired contractors to ensure that all work scheduled is completed and acceptable to the agreed terms and conditions
  • Works with the Director of Hotel Standards to establish off season repairs and planned refurbishment projects in accordance with life cycle schedule
  • Inspection of all hotel furniture, fixtures and equipment to maintain brand quality
  • Resolve issues that are assigned from the Hotel Maintenance ticket system
  • Provide guidance and assistance to onboard teams in working on maintenance and refurbishment items
  • Establish timelines for moving in of furniture, fixtures, and replacement items
  • Facilitate effective communication between contractors, crew, and management
  • Perform final inspections to ensure quality and assurance of work completed prior to ships delivery
  • Available for weekly meetings with Hotel Operations Managers and Hotel Development Team when needed
  • Build Teamwork across Marine, Hotel, and Engineering Operations
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Prior hospitality experience maintaining and repairing public spaces and guest rooms at hotels or on cruise Ships
  • Strong working knowledge of maintenance, building systems and construction principles
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ability to use internal software and provided technology
  • US Coast Guard regulated pre-employment drug test
