Job description

Job Overview:

With over 70 years of operating experience,Primoris Power Deliveryservices include engineering and design, installation and maintenance, material and equipment procurement, repair of electrical transmission, distribution, substation, wireless communication, and storm restoration. Our experience ranges from small engineering and consulting projects to multi-million dollar turn-key distribution, substation, and transmission line programs.

Project Controls will provide profitability analysis, tracking of costs versus budget, time and resource planning & scheduling, financial reporting, and other project administration duties for Project/Program managers as assigned.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide relevant project information on a routine and as-needed basis to both operational management and project management, including profitability analysis (including the tracking of costs versus budget), detailed cost reports, charts and diagrams, etc.
  • Generates, maintains, and provides adequate backup for management, internal and external accounting, and/or SOX requirements.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and completeness of all customer and project folders (paper and electronic).
  • Provide cost management and reporting of projects in accordance with Primoris Policies and Procedures and all associated SOX approvals, processes and documentation.
  • Participate in project meetings (project reviews, status meeting, progress review, etc.) along with project management.
  • Analyze and provide financial insight and recommendations to operations and project. management. Assist in tracking the profitability and status of contracts and projects.
  • Project accounting set-up at project initiation and close-out at project completion.
  • Track statuses of POs and ensure timely, accurate billing by vendors.
  • Update Viewpoint with latest project information including budget, change orders, assigned resources, etc.
  • Run and review job cost reports on a weekly basis to ensure validity of charges and perform cost adjustments as necessary.

Educational & Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, business management or engineering
  • 7+ years of directly related experience in cost accounting, scheduling, or project controls for construction projects.
  • Knowledge of fundamental principles, concepts, and techniques in project cost accounting and project financial controls.
  • Proficient computer skills using MS Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience in the Utilities construction industry preferred.
  • Experience using Viewpoint and/or EcoSys preferred.
  • Experience in Power BI is preferred.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as well as excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Self-disciplined, motivated, able to work with limited direct supervision, self-sufficient problem solver.
