Job description

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The Strategy & Portfolio Operations team operates across all business units, with a particular focus on optimizing the performance of existing businesses and supporting the identification and execution of high-impact growth initiatives. This includes a blend of organic and inorganic strategies such as process improvements, operational efficiency enhancements, along with support of M&A , investments, and strategic partnerships.

 POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Strategy & Portfolio Operations team is hiring a Manager, Strategy & Portfolio Operations to join a lean team that supports strategic and operational priorities across Fenway Sports Group (FSG) and its portfolio (including the Boston Red Sox, Liverpool FC, NESN, FSG Real Estate, Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing, the PGA TOUR, and other investments). This is a hands-on, execution-minded role that works with the broader Strategy & Portfolio Operations team to support organic and inorganic growth initiatives, operational improvements, and cross-property collaboration.  This role will partner closely with FSG executives, property leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders to move work forward and help institutionalize scalable approaches across the portfolio.

The base salary range for this position is $95,000-$120,000 based on relevant experience. Additionally, this position qualifies for annual incentive pay along with our comprehensive benefits package.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Corporate Strategy & Innovation

  • Work with FSG executives and property executives to surface, scope, and prioritize long-term corporate strategy and strategic initiatives.
  • Support the development of long-term business plans in collaboration with FSG businesses.
  • Maintain relationships across the sports/tech ecosystem to surface relevant start-ups and trends for the team.

Execution & Integration of Inorganic and Organic Growth Initiatives

  • Support integration roadmap development for new acquisitions, investments, and strategic partnerships.
  • Assist in evaluating real estate opportunities and other commercial opportunities across a range of FSG properties.
  • Support M&A processes, which include business diligence, legal diligence, and negotiation.

Platform Initiatives & Cross-Functional Initiatives

  • Help to coordinate horizontal Platform Initiatives (e.g., Marketing Analytics, Ticketing, Security) to scale best practices and tools across properties.
  • Coordinate cross-functional workstreams, ensuring alignment between FSG and property teams.
  • Help translate horizontal coordination into tangible and measurable value for FSG and its properties.

Property Reporting, Relations, and Optimization

  • Improve and maintain reporting frameworks that give FSG leadership, FSG businesses, and investors visibility into portfolio initiatives and performance.
  • Explore development of a comprehensive structure for minority investment management and investor reporting.
  • Prepare presentations, memos, and dashboards that clearly communicate priorities, progress, and results.

Project & Team Support

  • Support day-to-day project work: build analyses, maintain project plans, and coordinate deliverables.
  • Coordinate small, multi-disciplinary project teams or workstreams as assigned.
CHARACTERISTICS/QUALIFICATIONS:
  •  Bachelor's Degree required; MBA preferred but not required.
  • 3-6 years of experience at a management consulting firm or in a corporate strategy or development role at a large company or financial institution.
  • Intellectually curious and passionate about the business of sports, media, and entertainment.
  • Strong modeling skills, including versatility with Excel and other tools, along with strong PowerPoint and oral presentation skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, communication and quantitative skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently in an ambiguous environment.
  • Organized, self-motivated team player with a strong work ethic and proven ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information in a discreet manner.
  • Ability to travel when needed.
  • Must be based in or willing to relocate to Boston, MA.
  • Must be willing to work in-office.
