Summary
Perform major bodywork to bring vehicle back to factory standards. Must be open for overtime.
Responsibilities
Primary
Light welding (Stinger gun stud welding)
Glass repairs (RR and RI)
Metal prep/work/ treatment (epoxy/primer/surfacers)
Using all body refinish surfacers
Repair and refinish vehicle
Shrinking/sculpture metal panels
Blocking, wet sanding, hammering, dolling procedures
Adjusting doors, panels and hoods
Hazmat training
Safety knowledge of chemicals and equipment practices
Mechanic safety knowledge such as how to disconnect vehicles properly prior to performing bodywork
Raw plastic prepping
E-Coat prep
Secondary
Resurface and refinish all (RR/ RI) of all vehicle panels and interiors and color matching for door jambs
Mixing bench, (how to weigh and use formulas)
Body Work- Panels, Glass, Jambs
Inspect and notate vehicle damage
Apply mask tape over vehicle parts/windows
Buff, Color Sand, Primer, Body filling, Spray inner jambs,
Sealers and seam sealer for new parts Remove/Install windshields
Undercoating and applying rock guard protector
Other duties as assigned
Compensation pay range
$29.76 - $30.94 per hour
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma/G.E.D Required
  • Minimum 3 years of direct Automotive Body Shop experience required
  • PPG Certification preferred
  • Any Paint Surface certifications preferred
  • Must hold a valid state-issued driver's license without restrictions

Knowledge and Skills
  • Automotive, Body Shop, and Mechanic knowledge required
  • Able to notate and list details of body shop parts required
  • Body refinishing knowledge required
  • Priming knowledge required
  • Painting knowledge required
  • Ability to read and write in English preferred
  • Hazmat/Safety in Body Shop industry knowledge preferred
  • Welding knowledge preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent use of right and left hands for simple and firm grasping of welding machine, tire machine, scanner, desk machines
  • Frequent lift and carry usual 25 lbs, max 50 lbs
  • Stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach over shoulder, push, pull, kneel, squat 5+ hours per day
  • Drive, and crouch frequently
  • climb, crawl, 1-3 hours per day

Will be working with Open ROs, PPG Color Machine, welding machine, tire machine.
This position works in a plant manufacturing/warehouse setting at Port Hueneme, CA

  • Exposure to chemicals/fumes
