Job description

 Express Employment Professionals is looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic for a Fort Pierce Client.

Position Summary:
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, including trucks, and fleet vehicles. This role ensures all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance on diesel engines (oil changes, filters, lubrication, etc.)
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and software
  • Repair or replace defective components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and hydraulic systems
  • Conduct inspections to ensure vehicles meet safety and operational standards
  • Maintain and repair heavy-duty equipment such as garbage trucks
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders
  • Complete accurate service records and documentation of repairs
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns as needed
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical certification in diesel technology preferred
  • Proven experience working with diesel engines and heavy equipment
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and air brake systems
  • Ability to use diagnostic software and tools
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus

Work Environment:

  • Shop and field environment
