Job description

WHAT YOU'LL DO
The primary responsibility of the Pool Cocktail Server is to ensure complete customer satisfaction by serving and providing beverages to our guests to ensure an enjoyable stay. All duties are to be performed in accordance with the company's policies and procedures.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Greets and welcomes all guests in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Provides timely cocktail service in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Keep assigned areas clean and clear of glasses and bottles.
  • Continuously seek service opportunities.
  • Respond to and resolve guest complaints.
  • Answer guest questions and possess knowledge about property events and attractions.
  • Perform all side work at the assigned station, including stocking coffee, glasses, sugar, cream, and the coffee dispenser.
  • Provide fast (20 minutes or less round time), friendly, professional beverage service to pool guests; carry full trays on every round.
  • Take drink orders, communicate with the bartender, assist in the preparation of drinks, and present drinks to guests.
  • Maintain a clean and well-stocked workstation.
  • Handle money according to procedures.
  • Monitor guest consumption of alcohol and intervene as needed according to guidelines.
  • Serve as an ambassador of goodwill while working and at customer and public relations functions; appear in publicity photos.
  • Promote casino events and programs.
  • Collaborate closely with the Rio Rewards teams to promote new card sign-up programs.
  • Work well with others, especially beverage servers, bartenders, barbacks and the beverage supervisor.
  • Provide personalized service and use guests' names.
  • Resolve service problems according to guidelines.
  • Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
  • Fulfill any other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIREMENTS
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One-year previous high volume cocktail experience
  • Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Must be able to initiate and engage in conversation in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Must present a professional and pleasant appearance that guests will find appealing and approachable in order to engage in conversation.
  • Must be able to work any day of the week and scheduled shift.
  • Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team.
  • Must present a well-groomed appearance.
  • Work requires knowledge of tray service and cocktail ingredients.
  • Work requires schedule flexibility which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

PREFERRED
  • Minimum of one-year customer service experience in a previous position, where the primary job duty is direct customer service.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to work under time constraints and within established deadlines.
  • Work outdoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, varying conditions of temperature, heat, water, wind, extensive sun exposure, chemicals, including chlorine and other pool chemicals, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
  • Must regularly lift and/move up 30 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.

  • Work outdoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, varying conditions of temperature, heat, water, wind, extensive sun exposure, 23chemicals, including chlorine and other pool chemicals, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
