Job description

We are looking for a Sales Engineer to join our team.

Our Sales Engineers provide comprehensive pre-sales engineering support to US Majors/NE Regionals and Enterprise customers.  The Sales Engineer teams closely with an Account Manager and Partner teams to position and sell Nokia solutions and services. Sales Engineers work to understand customer requirements, define technical strategies, configure and quote optimal solutions.  Sales Engineers advance Nokia's value proposition to position the account for accelerating growth and success. This opening focuses on Fixed Networks (PON) technologies with a critical focus on competitive marketplace. IP experience is also desirable.

As part of the team, you will:

  • Evaluate and develop business opportunities in collaboration with the Sales team
  • Act as a subject matter expert, engage customers, present viable technical solutions, and articulate the value to customers.
  • Support product demonstrations, on-site lab evaluations and network trials.
  • Identify customer requirements and communicate to internal pricing teams the needed success to win the business
  • Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, and services.
  • Provide technical pre-sales and post sales Engineering support
  • Travel: Up to 50% overnight travel to meet with customers, strategize with account leaders and represent Nokia at events.
  • Engage directly and interact with the customer to determine challenges and propose solutions. 

You have: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years of experience as a sales engineer, solution architect, or related technical role in telecommunications (Fixed and IP Networks) industry
  • Advanced knowledge of Fixed Networks (PON) technology planning, deploying, and managing, of data-networking equipment
  • Ability to navigate obstacles in an often demanding, complex and very  competitive environment.
  • Demonstrated success in challenging customer-facing roles; ability to build positive relationships and serve as the primary technical face of Nokia
  • Excellent written, communication and presentation skills.

Must have:

  • Practical experience with Fixed Networks (PON), Wi-Fi technology. In-depth Altiplano knowledge and hands-on experience is preferred.   
  • Network operations experience for a practical approach to engaging with the provider.
  • Practical experience with IP Networking, Routing and Switching including hands-on skills
  • Major Vendor Routing Certification (CCIE-SP, JNCIE-SP, SRA)
  • Business acumen and market/account strategy experience 
  • Vision to build the sales pipeline and foster long-term growth opportunity in your accounts
  • Experience with the integration of network systems, BSS/OSS designed to monitor and maintain network performance and traffic.
