Job description

RMB Products is seeking an Industrial Painter (2nd shift) who is responsible for preparing and coating pipes, vessels, and other components for the next stage of production. This position performs surface preparation, mixing and applying industrial coatings, inspecting finished work, and maintaining equipment to ensure products meet customer specifications, engineering requirements, and Company quality standards.
Schedule: 2nd Shift 3pm-11:30pm w/ OT as required/needed

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position includes the following essential functions but is not limited to them. Additional duties may be assigned:
  • Prepare metal and other surfaces for coating by performing cleaning, masking, and other approved surface preparation methods in accordance with work instructions, customer specifications, and quality standards.
  • Mix, prepare, and apply industrial coatings and paint systems in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, work orders, engineering drawings, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and established procedures.
  • Operate spray equipment and other painting tools to achieve proper coating coverage, finish, and quality.
  • Inspect prepared surfaces and completed coatings to verify surface condition, coating quality, thickness (when applicable), coverage, and compliance with customer and Company specifications.
  • Load, unload, move, and position materials and products using overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment as required.
  • Clean, maintain, and properly store painting equipment, tools, personal protective equipment (PPE), and work areas to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Accurately complete required production, quality, inspection, certification, and other operational documentation in a timely manner.
  • Read and follow work orders, engineering drawings, production schedules, and process instructions to complete assigned work accurately and efficiently.
  • Identify and report equipment issues, coating defects, or quality concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while supporting 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of automotive, industrial, or commercial painting experience preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and customer specifications.
  • Knowledge of industrial painting methods, coating systems, surface preparation techniques, and application equipment.
  • Current forklift certification, or the ability to obtain certification through the Company-sponsored training program.
  • Current crane and rigging certification, or the ability to obtain certification through the Company-sponsored training program.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to maneuver throughout a manufacturing environment, climb, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to successfully complete respirator fit testing and maintain certification for respirator use.
