ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is hiring six part time student research assistants to work on a variety of projects in the College of Engineering Center for Exploration and Space Technologies and the Bronco Space Lab under the supervision of Dr. Phyllis Nelson. Projects require hardware and software development for small satellite applications.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
- Current projects include expanding a system for determining a high-resolution map of lunar terrain during last-stage lunar landings, updating a system for identifying and tracking developing wildfires from low earth orbit, designing methods for autonomous satellite collaboration, and adding machine learning capabilities to the JPL F' flight software framework.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a Cal Poly Student pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
- Excellent English verbal communication and writing skills.
- Responsible and dependable.
- Ability to work well with various people including students, faculty, staff, and representatives of external industry and government organizations.
PREFERRED:
Experience with at least one of the following:
- CAD structural design.
- Thermal modeling software.
- Python programming.
- Linux.
- PC board design.
- Al and ML software and methods.
ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Enterprises offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year.
