Job description

Job Description: This position encompasses the cleaning, dusting, and polishing of equipment, floors, restrooms, furniture, fixtures, mirrors, and windows. Able to mix chemicals and use follow procedures for the use of cleaners and power equipment. A professional and positive image must be consistently displayed by the employee. Job Responsibilities: • Janitors must report to work on a regular and timely basis.
• Must be able to clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and/or vacuuming.
• Responsible for gathering trash and emptying cans; servicing, cleaning, and supplying restrooms.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment as well as cleaning and polishing furniture and fixtures.
• Able to mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
• Must follow procedures for use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Able to steam-clean and shampoo carpets, strip, seal, finish, and polish floors. Must be able to move freely, reach, bend, and twist in confined spaces to hand clean.
• Able to operate vehicles and/or equipment required to perform or travel to cleaning site, including vans, industrial trucks, or industrial vacuum cleaners.
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation.
• Must be able to use cognitive skills to check condition, clean, sort, count, salvage, and/or store equipment.
• Empty waste bins to avoid trash littering
• Restock or resupply restroom papers and make sure the toilet is in a good condition
• Perform seasonal inspection on utilities like smoke detectors, air conditioning units, fire place and others.
• Must have basic knowledge of cleaning procedures and practice, which include keeping inventory of cleaning supplies/equipment and maintaining proper functionality.
• Resupplying or restocking restroom paper products and toiletries such as air freshener, towels and soaps.
• Able to work as a team or work independently without direct supervision.
