Newnan Police Department

NPD is now accepting applications for Police Officer Trainee. This is your opportunity to begin a career in public safety. $37,294.40 - $60,153.60 while attending Basic Police Officer Training, promotion and pay increase upon graduation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Police Officer Trainee responsibilities include learning basic skills and procedures needed to be a police officer. Under direct guidance and close supervision, you will perform skilled trades while attending official law enforcement classes through a POST approved Police Academy, and related work as apparent or assigned.

The duties listed are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.

  • Attend formal classes in the basic law enforcement training course at a City designated police academy to attain certification as a certified Police Officer.
  • Complete weekly program components as evidenced by academy requirements and pass all related physical and academic tests and/or examinations.
  • Complete additional required training in emergency vehicle operations, fire arms, first aid, and any other courses required by departmental policies.
  • Participate in mandatory physical fitness training.
  • Continued participation in academy training is subject to adherence to all policies and procedures; any disciplinary action will result in immediate dismissal.
