Job description

Work Order Administrator (GIS)

Full-Time Contractor (Starting with a 6 month contract)

About the Role:

We are seeking an Entry-Level Work Order Coordinator to support the creation of accurate work orders and construction sketches for electric make-ready projects. This role is ideal for candidates who are detail-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable working with GIS and utility systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up local folders and organize project files (Design CSV, C-Form, maps).
  • Log into GIS and work management systems to update work request details.
  • Perform basic GIS updates to align system data with field conditions.
  • Generate work records and create work point flags; add standard cost units.
  • Enter descriptions of work and annotations for construction sketches.
  • Prepare and review construction sketches for accuracy.
  • Apply billing status for cost units under guidance.
  • Assist with forestry review requests, police protection calculations, and permitting.
  • Prepare and upload required reports (Customer Outage List, Dig Safe forms, Environmental Checklist).
  • Verify requirements and submit completed work orders for approval. Qualifications

Education: Associateโ€™s degree in GIS, Engineering Technology, or related field; or equivalent technical training.

Skills:

  • Basic GIS editing and map layout skills.
  • Familiarity with cost unit selection and work order documentation.
    • Proficiency in Excel and PDF tools.
      Tools: Exposure to GIS platforms, STORMS, Helix, and mapping tools.
    • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to follow structured processes, and effective communication.
    • Preferred - Internship or co-op experience in utilities or telecom. - OSHA 10 certification or willingness to obtain complex workflows
