Job description

Overview of Responsibilities -
Responsible for the direct supervision of employees and problem resolution and indirect management of poker operations in assigned areas during assigned shift; continual monitoring of assigned areas to ensure game integrity and asset protection; enforce company policies and business processes and ensure compliance with gaming regulations and internal controls; practice and enforce excellent guest service.
Essential Job Duties -

  • Ensure appropriate and professional care and service are provided to guests and employees in assigned areas
  • Ensure the protection and integrity of all games, currency, chips, playing cards and other assets in assigned areas
  • Review and maintain the necessary records pertaining to the activities of the poker tables in assigned areas
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with all gaming regulations, internal controls, policies and business processes
  • Cooperate and coordinate with gaming regulators as required and as appropriate
  • Assist in the recruitment, orientation, training, development and scheduling of Poker Games personnel
  • Monitor and manage staffing levels and labor costs and optimize utilization of poker tables in assigned areas
  • Practice and foster open, clear, two-way communication with all related departments and superiors
  • Make suggestions and recommendations for the enhancement of services and operations
  • Observe and stay current about industry and competitor developments and communicate the same to the Poker Shift Manager
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of Company events and promotions and ensure direct reports are briefed accordingly
  • Assist with managing department strategic planning and development
  • Recommend strategies to the Poker Shift Manager for business enhancements, promotions, special events and guest service improvement
  • Provide ongoing advice, support and direction to subordinates; manage work operations and prepare plans to implement change when required, monitor productivity of each work unit in assigned areas
  • Proactively manage and direct the performance of the poker room employees in assigned areas; provide and recommend training and performance enhancements and evaluations
  • Supervise, direct, coordinate, influence and persuade employees in order to maintain company service standards
  • Interact with department and company employees in a professional and positive manner to foster good rapport, promote team spirit and ensure effective two-way and cross-culture communications
  • In the absence of a poker shift manager, assumes the role and responsibilities of the Poker Shift Manager
  • Issues complimentaries pursuant to company internal controls.
  • Regularly analyze departmental job descriptions for relevance and effectiveness.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications -
  • 1+ year as a poker assistant shift manager or 3+ years as a poker supervisor in a casino with 40+ poker tables.
  • Good computer skills and good MS Word and Excel skills.
  • Excellent proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and understanding English.
  • Effective knowledge of poker management software, scheduling software and game equipment.
  • Excellent game protection skills and knowledge.
  • Thorough knowledge of local gaming regulations and employment laws
  • Average analytical skills and functional ability to interpret analysis.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, train and manage human resources.
