A Career with Point72's Tax team

Point72's Tax team sits at the center of a sophisticated global investment platform, overseeing tax compliance and planning across 30+ hedge funds, 75+ private equity and management companies, high-net-worth individuals, and tax-exempt organizations.

The team partners closely with Big Four accounting firms and leading external advisors to manage the preparation and review of partnership, corporate, individual, international, and state tax filings. Beyond compliance, the group leads tax research, planning initiatives, and firmwide projects, collaborating across the organization to address complex tax issues in a dynamic investment environment.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be exposed to investment and family office tax matters-spanning hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, management companies, and exempt organizations-within one of the industry's most sophisticated investment platforms. Specifically, you will:

  • Support tax compliance and planning for Point72's high-net-worth individuals with exposure to related entities, including trusts, foundations, and other family office structures, by preparing and reviewing tax workpapers, estimates, and filings.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of tax provisions and supporting schedules used in monthly financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with third-party tax providers by preparing supporting schedules, return templates, and documentation to facilitate tax return preparation.
  • Leverage Point72's proprietary allocation and reporting systems to generate tax return templates and supporting workpapers.
  • Prepare responses to tax notices and audit inquiries from federal and state taxing authorities.
  • Partner with internal teams to address tax reporting and transactional questions, including accounting entries.
  • Support tax planning and structuring initiatives led by senior leadership, including preparing materials for senior management.
  • Contribute to automation and process improvement initiatives within the tax function.

What's required

  • 7+ years of experience in U.S. taxation, with a focus on high-net-worth individuals.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • CPA licensure or roadmap to obtain the designation.
  • Experience responding to tax notices and audit inquiries from federal and state taxing authorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience reviewing complex financial and tax documentation.
  • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to quickly learn new systems and proprietary software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams and external advisors.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail and a proactive, self-starter mindset.
  • Commitment to the highest ethical standards.

We take care of our people

We invest in our people, their careers, their health, and their well-being. When you work here, we provide:

  • Fully-paid health care benefits
  • Generous parental and family leave policies
  • Volunteer opportunities
