The English Department offers a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate courses to meet the needs of students with a diversity of interests and backgrounds. By studying literature, critical theory, rhetoric, composition, and creative writing, students in the Department of English acquire experience in intertextual and cross-disciplinary inquiry represented by many cultures and historical periods. They learn critical approaches to texts and issues that enable them to interpret and compare positions; to read closely, critically, and with empathy; to conduct research; to weigh evidence; and to write with insight and expertise.
Position Summary
The Creative Writing program is looking for qualified instructors are needed to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Poetry Writing. Courses include:
• Wr 213 - Introductory Poetry Writing
• Wr 313 - Intermediate Poetry Writing
• Wr 407 - Seminar: Poetry
• Wr 413 - Advanced Poetry Writing
• Wr 507 - MFA Seminar: Poetry
Minimum Qualifications
For all courses: MFA or PhD in Poetry.
For 500-level courses: A distinguished record of publication, including at least one book of poetry. Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
For 300- and 400-level courses: Two quarters of demonstrated successful teaching of college level poetry writing and significant publications in the genre.
For 500-level courses: Experience teaching at the graduate level.
