Job description

We Could Use Someone Like You in Our Crew. Senior Editorial Writer & Content Strategist Full-Time | Remote | Marketing ModSquad is a global provider of managed digital engagement services. Our 10,000+ Mods chat with customers, moderate web content, manage communities, and buzz in social media for many of the world's coolest brands, including the NFL, Zendesk, and Topps, to name a few. We bring companies closer to their customers than ever before. From global enterprises to international agencies to hip new start ups, our clients have reaped the benefits of putting ModSquad's expertise to work. With experienced Mods available in 50+ languages in 70+ countries, we're your squad for the digital world.

We are seeking a Senior Editorial Writer & Content Strategist with a journalistic perspective to join our Marketing team. ModSquad is executing a brand-led marketing strategy, and in this role you will find the stories, structure the competitive positioning, and shape authoritative content published on behalf of our executive leadership. This is not a content marketing role. We are not looking for someone to feed a CMS or optimize for keywords. We are looking for a writer and editor who can interview executives, surface the stories buried inside our client work, and shape them into pieces that people in CX, Trust & Safety, and digital operations actually want to read. You will sit within the Content & Creative Production function and report to the Head of Brand. You will partner closely with the VP of Marketing, Account Management, Sales, and internal subject matter experts across the business, and you will provide editorial direction to a junior writer. If you have worked at a trade publication, written editorial for a B2B brand with a real point of view, or ghostwritten executive bylines that didn't sound like press releases, we should talk.

Responsibilities / Duties:
  • Ghostwrite executive articles for distribution across owned, social, and external channels
  • Develop sponsored editorial and co-authored pieces for targeted trade publishers
  • Source and shape client and partner stories, both anonymized and attributed, that read as authentic rather than templated
  • Conduct interviews with internal SMEs, clients, and partners to extract story angles and unique perspectives
  • Support live programming, including office hours, podcast appearances, and recurring conversations with senior ModSquad voices
  • Shape and maintain an editorial cadence across pillars: customer support, trust & safety, content moderation, AI/automation, business systems, and security
  • Monitor the competitive and trade publishing landscape and identify the gaps our voice can fill
  • Provide editorial direction to a junior writer; review drafts for structure, clarity, and consistent point of view
  • Partner with the VP of Marketing to align editorial output with partner co-marketing needs
  • Partner with Account Management and Sales to identify client stories worth telling
  • Build a repeatable process for sourcing, developing, and clearing client stories
Who you are:
  • 6โ€“8 years of professional writing experience, with a meaningful portion in journalism, editorial, or trade publishing
  • Demonstrable experience in executive ghostwriting, with samples you can speak to
  • Background covering or writing for audiences in one or more of: customer experience, enterprise SaaS, trust & safety, BPO/outsourcing, or digital operations
  • Familiar with how trade publications work, including sponsored content, co-authorship, and pitching editorial angles
