Job description

Samson Technologies began in 1980 designing wireless microphone systems. Today, we are an industry leader in both consumer and professional audio with three notable brands: Samson Audio, Samson Wireless and Hartke. Over 300 of our products are sold and distributed in over 140 countries around the world. In 1980, Samson introduced our first wireless microphone system.

Over the years, Samson has become a leader in the wireless field. In the early '90s, we began to expand the reach of our audio products through the development of power amplifiers, mixers, wired microphones and signal processors. In 2005, we introduced the first professional USB microphones to be used by musicians, broadcasters and podcast enthusiasts. Our USB microphones are now the industry standard.

Hartke revolutionized the world of bass amplification in 1985 with the creation of a unique aluminum cone driver that produced a bass tone with far broader dynamics than had ever been heard before. We have gone on to create a full line of bass amplifiers, cabinets and combos that are used by some of the world's greatest musicians.

Over three decades, Samson has grown from a small two-person operation to a worldwide enterprise, dedicated to innovating new products that will enhance the lives of music and broadcast professionals everywhere.

The role of Electrical Engineer – Audio Products at Samson Distribution LLC is responsible for end-to-end development of professional audio products—from concept through mass production—including USB microphones, wireless systems, powered speakers, mixers, and bass guitar amplifiers.

Work spans circuit design, embedded firmware development, and digital signal processing, with hands-on involvement in prototyping, testing, and collaboration with global manufacturing partners.

  • Design analog, digital, and mixed circuits for new products; review and correct OEM designs for production.
  • Develop embedded firmware in C for USB audio and wireless products (2.4 GHz, 1.9 GHz DECT, UHF), interfacing with CODECs and RF modules via I2C, I2S, and UART; implement USB Audio Class compliance and Apple MFi/iAP2.
  • Create DSP signal paths (SigmaStudio) for loudspeakers: EQ (voicing), crossovers, limiters, and thermal/excursion protection.
  • Perform hardware failure analysis on switching power supplies and other subsystems using standard lab equipment.
  • Write scripts for prototype testing, signal analysis, and debug.
  • Manage component obsolescence: update circuit designs, firmware, and descriptors to accommodate replacement parts as components are discontinued.
  • Coordinate asynchronously with overseas contract manufacturers on firmware releases, schematic/PCB fixes, samples, production testing, and quality issues.
  • Guide factory partners and mentor junior engineers on technical execution.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field

Experience: 3-4 years of relevant experience (internships and project work considered)

Technical Skills:

  • Analog and mixed-signal circuit design
  • Embedded C firmware
  • DSP fundamentals
  • Scripting for engineering analysis (e.g., Python)
  • Proficiency with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, Audio Precision equipment, AC/DCVM, audio signal level meters, and general audio test equipment

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Effective communication and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
