What are PMS (Property Management Systems)?

PMS, or Property Management Systems, are software applications designed to help hotels and other property managers handle daily operations such as reservations, guest check-in/check-out, housekeeping, billing, and reporting. These systems streamline administrative tasks and improve efficiency by centralizing all property management functions. Modern PMS solutions often integrate with other technologies like point-of-sale systems, online booking engines, and channel managers to provide a seamless experience for both staff and guests.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a product manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Product Manager, you need a solid understanding of product lifecycle management, market analysis, and strategic planning, typically supported by a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field. Familiarity with tools like Jira, Trello, Aha!, and analytics platforms, as well as certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), are commonly required. These skills ensure that products are developed efficiently, meet market needs, and achieve business goals in a competitive environment.
