This position offers mentoring from various levels of management throughout the organization. Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include plywood and lumber manufacturing plants, and twenty-three specialty wood product distribution operations, located in fifteen states serving the northeast, southeast and southwest United States.ย

Key Responsibilities:ย ย ย 
  • Supervise operations within multiple departments and shifts at theย highest practical efficiency. This includes working with employees andย management to develop production schedules, budgets, and to coordinate movement of material in and out of the work area. Resolve operating,ย scheduling, and production issues as needed.ย 
  • Work with other department supervisors to ensure operations meet quality standards andย productย specifications.ย 
  • Work with other department supervisors to ensure machinery, equipment, and work areas areย maintained properly. Work with maintenance to coordinate preventativeย maintenance, expedite repairs, and schedule equipment updates, additions, and/or replacements.ย 
  • Work with other department supervisors to ensure work is carried out in a safe manner and that allย areas are free of work hazards. Ensureย that company safety policies and practicesย areย followed by employees. Set personal example by observing all safe work practices andย participate in safety checks, audits, and investigations.ย ย 
  • Participate in new hire orientations, employee training, ongoing coaching, andย reinforcement to employees.ย Observe and apply all Hood human resources,ย safety, and related policies.ย ย 
  • Participate in creating required operating reports (e.g. work hours, productionย levels, quality testing, etc.). Participate in maintaining appropriate and requiredย operating, regulatory, and human resources records, includingย attendance logsย via KRONOS, preventative and corrective maintenance via Guardian, and production reports via Lumberย Trax.ย ย

  • Knowledge of Internet, Excel, and Word.ย 
  • General knowledge of OSHA standards.ย 
  • Ability to work with a diverse workforce.ย 
  • Must be able to work multiple shifts and weekends.ย ย 
Salary Range: $54,000 - $80,000ย
