Job description

Weyerhaeuser is seeking individuals who are committed to safety, have a positive attitude, excellent work ethic and a desire to work in a manufacturing facility. Weyerhaeuser’s Montana Wood Products is currently looking to fill a Class 3 Boiler Operator position at our Kalispell Plywood Facility.

Our manufacturing facilities are highly automated and utilize many leading-edge technologies in the wood products industry. 

Hourly Rate of Pay $27.73 - $34.22 DOE

Key Functions

  • Support manufacturing by maximizing the boiler uptime and supplying a set pressure and constant flow of steam to the Kalispell Plywood and Sawmill facilities. In addition, you will maintain the boiler to ensure that all system checks and boiler operating procedures are performed to ASME code and Weyerhaeuser’s policy standards.
  • Manage boiler hog fuel pile, which includes running a Komatsu 320 and CAT 966 front-end loader.  Skid steer loaders will also be used for cleaning outlying boiler areas.
  • Learn how to operate the boiler and obtain the progressive Montana State Boiler Engineer licenses within the designated time frame.
  • Work with a team of boiler operators to maintenance boiler operation; including but not limited to operation of the fuel handling equipment, boiler operation and maintenance. Work with others including supervisor and other plant personnel.
  • Perform maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, equipment inspection and preventative maintenance (including rolling stock), plumbing, equipment repairs, keeping boiler area clean, running water tests, and conducting water and chemistry treatments.
  • Forklift certification required
  • Skills/experience in maintenance of boilers and related equipment, as well as in welding/cutting and repair of pumps, pipes, valves and air compressors preferred
  • Prior boiler operation experience preferred

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required 

Specific Skills

  • Self-starter with the ability to work without direct supervision
  • Ability to work closely with supervisors, and all others in the department; be a team player/leader; good verbal and written communication skills; and demonstrate positive attitude
  • Knowledge and ability to use Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Show proficiency in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) standards
  • Must have good performance, safety and attendance records.
  • Must demonstrate good communication skills.
  • Must have ability to identify, communicate potential problems, and work to solve them.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays and other shifts as required.
