Job description

Schedule: 4-10's or 5-8's with flexibility to meet client's needs. Hours can range from day time to early evening during weekdays and/or weekends. Successful applicant(s) will have the ability to work with hiring manager to develop a schedule that will accommodate their needs and program needs.

This position serves both our Grants Pass and Medford locations.

Participation in a rotating on-call schedule is required and compensated.


Overview

The Rehabilitation Specialist utilizes specific interventions to support, educate and teach children and their care givers and significant others the skills necessary to maximize functioning and minimize or eliminate behaviors and/or patterns of thinking which are interfering with making positive gains. This position utilizes their training (agency provided training available) in applied behavior analysis, positive behavior teaching, motivational interviewing, integrated health and wellness and zones of regulation to carryout treatment plans devised by a variety of professionals including mental health clinician, occupational therapist, behavior analyst, medical provider and speech therapist. Interventions are structured and specific and designed to promote maximum gains within identified time frames. Works as part of an interdisciplinary team including the professionals identified above and provides services in the home, school, community and other locations. Populations of focus include children with emotional disorders, mental illness, autism spectrum disorders and developmental delays.

Responsibilities

Participates in required trainings including but not limited to applied behavior analysis, positive behavior teaching, motivational interviewing, integrated health and wellness and zones of regulation. Demonstrates competency and adherence to these models of intervention consistently throughout work with clients.

Manages assigned case load of clients. Size of caseload is based agency targets, scope of responsibilities, clients’ level of acuity, and agency need.

Implements identified interventions designed to improve behavioral, emotional, relational, social, and daily living skills.

Provides support, consultation and education to parents, teachers, caregivers and others involved in the client’s life to promote universal programming across all areas of the child’s/adult’s environment (generalization),

Implements treatment interventions, utilizing practices identified by the assessing practitioner and in keeping with agency supported training.

Provides timely accurate documentation using appropriate psychosocial terminology that meets or exceeds billing criteria. Must adhere to the Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR) and standards of care.

Completes program-specific charting, entry of outcome data, and data-tracking.

Assesses symptoms and manages immediate crisis including danger to self or others, and implements crisis intervention plan if necessary.

Plans, develops, and delivers educational services utilizing identified professional training materials, and develops specialized curriculum under the guidance of supervisor as necessary.

May assists clients in accessing community resources while teaching skills for client to be self-sufficient and/or maximize age-appropriate independence level.

Transports clients to facilitate client-directed services, travels between sites and is required to drive.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree in a human services field OR three years of experience providing services in a similar setting with individuals who have emotional and/or mental and/or developmental disabilities, OR a combination of education and experience that provides the desired skills, knowledge, and abilities required to perform the job. Willingness to participate in all agency required and supported training and to utilize strategies and interventions as prescribed by training and assessing provider

Must be a QMHA on the Mental Health & Addictions Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO) registry.
