Job Title: Resource Planning Consultant (PLEXOS)

Location: Jacksonville, FL 32202 (Hybrid)

Job Type: Full Time

Job Overview  

Our client is seeking an experienced Resource Planning Consultant to provide advanced technical, analytical, and advisory support for resource planning activities. The primary focus is developing, maintaining, and running production cost, capacity expansion, and portfolio optimization models using PLEXOS. This role is critical to executive-level decision-making, regulatory filings, and long-term resource adequacy assessments.

Key Responsibilities  
  • Conduct specialized studies such as effective load carrying capacity (ELCC) analysis and reserve margin assessments
  • Maintain and evaluate comprehensive databases for unit costs, operating characteristics, outage schedules, and fuel transportation requirements
  • Evaluate diverse resource alternatives (conventional, nuclear/SMR, solar, battery storage, and emerging technologies) based on reliability, cost, risk, and utilization
  • Translate complex analytical findings into executive-level reports and presentations for leadership and external stakeholders
Required Skills  
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in electric resource planning, management, engineering, or operations
  • 3-4 years of hands-on experience developing, maintaining, validating, and executing PLEXOS models or comparable production cost/capacity expansion tools
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Management, Energy Systems, or a related field
Preferred Skills  
  • State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with emerging energy technologies including solar, battery storage, and SMR
