  • Understand business and technology challenges and find opportunities for 'out of the box' solutions
  • Lead discovery discussions to understand business problems, feature opportunities, and useability gaps, articulating the art of the possible.
  • Translate business requirements, workflows, and operating models into clear functional and technical direction for team members
  • Maintain a high level of user engagement and support for project managers and other TPMO application users
  • Work closely with the Data Analytics team to develop data providers, fields, controls and processes necessary to maintain a high standard of data quality in support of key reports and dashboards
  • Support and champion the implementation of a data quality framework for project and resource data managed in Clarity
  • Act as SME for Clarity (PPM), improving adoption and data quality
  • Provide support for secondary TPMO applications including Microsoft Planner, Microsoft Project, and Smartsheet
  • Support the wider TPMO team: lean in where needed on strategic projects and priority work.
  • Monitor the project portfolio, to identify/anticipate opportunities or challenges for Canada Life.  Work with the Project Delivery Life Cycle team to develop delivery process changes, and with Clarity and Data Analysis colleagues to develop the tools and dashboards to support those processes.
  • Establish strong working relationships with delivery teams that enable collaboration and transparency
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues that may impair the organization's ability to meet its strategic, financial, and technical goals
  • Coach and develop team members, providing meaningful growth opportunities, a clear vision for the future, and demonstrating how the team's activities support Canada Life and Technology's strategic goals

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
  • 8-10+ years of experience in project management, project management offices, product ownership and/or technology consulting roles with production delivery responsibility.
  • Experience in PMO / TPMO environments. Hands-on experience with project portfolio management systems essential, with Clarity strongly preferred. Strong understanding of the project management lifecycle, and agile methodologies. Experience working in agile or iterative delivery environments.
  • Experience defining technical requirements, solution designs, test plans and operational support documentation.
  • Experience working with diverse data platforms, data models, and structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Experience gathering and documenting requirements and guiding solutions from concept through implementation.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and align system configuration to business objectives. Strong problem-solving, and process analysis skills.
  • Excellent executive-level communication skills, including the ability to convey insights and strategy through data.
