RiverView Health operates a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital, RiverView Recovery Center; a chemical dependency outpatient treatment program, RiverView Home Care and five primary care and specialty clinics in the hospitals service area.

Job Title: Register Nurse (RN)
Position Status: 1.0 fte (80 hours per pay period)
Department: OR - Same Day Surgery
Salary Range: $35.68 - $49.96 / per hour (based on experience)
Position Summary:
The Same Day Surgery Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to patients undergoing outpatient surgical procedures. This role functions across the perioperative continuum, including preoperative, post-anesthesia care (PACU), and discharge phases. The RN works collaboratively with the interprofessional team to ensure safe, high-quality, evidence-based care while promoting optimal patient outcomes and experiences.
Essential Functions:
  • Executes nursing interventions by collaborating with the interprofessional team incorporating appropriate standards of care and practice and patient outcomes
  • Evaluates patients response to plan of care and works in collaboration with the interprofessional team to make any needed adjustments.
  • Utilizes data to continuously meet care coordination needed across settings in conjunction with the patient, family, and/or other care providers
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for effectively managing nursing care of individual patients
  • Documents nursing assessment and interventions to reflect comprehensive and integrated approaches to patient care in the electronic record
  • Provides care that is safe, ethical, patient and family centered, and evidence based.
  • Works independently within their scope of practice to achieve clinical outcomes appropriate for the patient and their families.
  • Monitor patient while awaking from anesthesia in the PACU setting
  • Review and act on test results
  • Initiate and monitor intravenous (IV) infusions
  • Provide patient education
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Serve as a mentor, preceptor, and/or resource to others
  • Assist with the coordination of care across the continuum (e.g. inpatient, outpatient, Ambulatory)
  • Minor cleaning of the department, stocking rooms, patient follow up phone calls, and checking patient charges.
Qualifications
Minimum(s):
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, A.D.N or BSN
  • Current State of Minnesota RN license
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS and TNCC Certifications (if not current, must attain within 6 months of hire.
Preferred(s):
  • 1+ years of Inpatient, Emergency Department, Infusion Therapy, or Same Day Surgery nursing experience.
Competencies:
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple patients in a fast-paced ambulatory surgical environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
