Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State is searching for a full time Plasterer - Grade 5 to join the team. Duties include:
  • Perform patching jobs, such as filling cracks, chipped surfaces, holes, etc.; match texture of finish and molding
  • Fill cracks; apply tape to plasterboard; smooth surface
  • Check area to be plastered, such as whether pipes must be moved, or whether larger area than specified should be plastered, refer to supervisor; determine square footage and amount of materials needed to complete job
  • Order necessary materials, such as lime, plaster, retarding agent, zonolite, wire mesh, etc.
  • Erect scaffold and staging; cover adjoining surfaces, furniture, etc.
  • Remove old plaster, wall materials; prepare surfaces for stucco, as required
  • As required, set in metal strips to support areas where plaster does not readily adhere to wall or ceiling; apply wire mesh; when needed, set steel corners
  • Prepare, mix and apply ground and finish plaster and stucco, as specified
  • Use hand tools and apply plaster to provide a finished surface, such as smooth, sand, and acoustical
  • Occasionally direct the work of a helper
  • Drive University vehicle, as required
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition
  • Perform other duties related or similar to the type described above

Job Requirements: Requires the use of shop mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, various types of adjustable measuring instruments and the training generally applicable in a particular or specialized occupation. Equivalent to 1 to 3 years applied trades training. Over 1 year up to and including 3 years of effective experience.

Work Schedule:6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Days Off:Friday, Saturday, Sunday
