Job Summary

The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operation including production, maintenance and administrative functions of the site.  Coordinates with Quality Assurance to ensure products are produced in accordance with customer specifications, ensure compliance with in-process testing and sampling, and ensure customer satisfaction.  Regularly interfaces with sales, marketing and customer service to meet customers’ needs.  Oversees planning and execution to ensure long term goals and objectives are met.  Strong emphasis that operation is in compliance with applicable EH&S regulations effecting the site and employees; maintains a safe working environment and an atmosphere of continuous improvement through application of Lean principles.  Has involvement with other special projects as assigned.

 

Operational Excellence

Manage the operations and employees through use of Operational Excellence and HPWS via 5S, Visual Systems, Kaizen, TPM, Standard Work, Kanban systems, team building, employee empowerment, etc.

 

Monitor plant safety, quality and efficiency.

Develop and communicate with plant staff the safety, quality, customer service, and production goals and opportunities for improvement.  Prepare, review, and monitor financial statements including incoming orders, shipping, budgets, capital expenditures, etc. Continually monitor plant operations including safety improvement and cost savings opportunities, maintenance issues, quality, etc.  Manage raw materials and inventory costs.   

Lead plant personnel.

Lead behavior change in support of High-Performance Work Systems, Safety & OE cultural transformation. Manage the performance of plant personnel through the setting goals and objectives, regular performance evaluations, disciplinary action, and career development.  Supervise, motivate and develop other Staff members. Conduct training on various topics including safety, plant objectives, and other performance improving training.  Communicate and support all Company policies and procedures to all employees. 

 

Capital budgeting and project analysis

Develop and coordinate yearly plant budget.  Examine Return on Income justification for all capital expenditures.  Supervise and engineer plant capital projects.

Administrative functions.

Communicate with upper management, other plants, finance, human resources, environmental safety & health, etc. on appropriate issues.  Responsible for complying with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations that may affect the plant (e.g. – safety, human resources, environmental, etc)
