Job description

The Planning Specialist is a professional who plays a crucial role in developing and implementing strategies to achieve organizational goals. Their responsibilities are key to supporting the operations planning and scheduling team.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute planning report based on direction from Material Planner.
  • Assist in expediting and de-expediting work orders and purchase orders.
  • Release work orders and purchase orders to preferred/approved suppliers.
  • Collaborate with purchasing in the evaluation of current/approved suppliers.
  • Maintain positive communications with internal/external “customers” for raw materials, finished goods, supplies, and services (Customer Service, Suppliers, Inter-plant, operations, etc.).
  • Manage inbound and outbound shipments with suppliers and internal traffic department.
  • Assure proper approval, accounting, and processing controls are maintained.
  • Review and close work orders o Inventory and interplant receiving.
  • Manage material issues to work order.
  • Inventory counting.
  • Manage/prepare shipment information.
  • Prepare metric data and daily information reports.
  • Prepare shop packets.
  • Involvement in continual improvement efforts.
  • Various administrative duties and JD Edwards/supporting system transaction processing.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School or GED required, Associates degree in operation/supply chain or business preferred.
  • years of experience in a manufacturing facilities, preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle simultaneous tasks under pressure.

  • Manufacturing familiarity.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of quality systems.
