Responsibilities:

  • Prepare basic to moderately complex U.S. individual and business tax filings and supporting workpapers with cross border implications.
  • Review and verify own work for accuracy, details and completeness.
  • Identify and analyze tax issues and present solutions to engagement team lead.
  • Prepare global compensation reports and tax equalization calculations.
  • Prepare quarterly and year-end estimates to assist clients with tax planning.
  • Assist with IFRS/GAAP convergence and foreign assignment planning.
  • Assist engagement team lead with consultation of inbound and outbound entity and individual taxation, expatriate management and tax planning to develop international tax strategies.
  • Evaluate and assist clients with the implementation of international tax structures and processes.
  • Assist with transfer pricing, Value-Added Taxes (VAT), customs, etc.
  • Apply technical expertise to ensure regulatory compliance while interpreting state, federal and international laws and regulations relevant to client’s operations.
  • Research technical topics and provide findings to engagement team lead.
  • Maintain proactive communication with engagement team and clients to manage expectations, deadlines and deliverables.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies and issues as they arise.
  • Work collaboratively in teams internally and with foreign offices to provide quality client service, share knowledge, best practices and suggestions for improvement with colleagues.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing by preparing and presenting on technical subjects to Doeren Mayhew colleagues and prospective/current clients.
  • Present new ideas and improvements to current processes and tasks in order to achieve firm and departmental goals.
  • Stay abreast of current IRS laws, regulations and best practices; commit to ongoing personal professional development and continuous improvement plans.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or equivalent degree as determined by the management committee, required
  • CPA license and/or working towards master’s degree in Taxation preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of tax and accounting research techniques
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use technology to attain engagement efficiencies
  • Ability to adapt to new technology platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner with all levels of personnel internally and externally
  • Ability to work independently, but also in a team environment
