General Job Description
This position is devoted to support of professional standards for a variety of operations and functions primarily focusing on accreditation, but also includes strategic planning, data analytics, departmental capital projects and operational planning.
Duties for this Position
  • Provides program and/or project management, planning and analytical support in area of accreditation. May serve as lead worker, assigning work and monitoring work completion or may supervise staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline and termination procedures.
  • Administers the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE / Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) and Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) accreditation process that ensures compliance with standards developed and maintains Insurance Service Office (ISO) rating. Ensures all annual and/or time sensitive reviews, reports, audits, and inventories are completed as required by CPSE / CFAI. Oversees and participates in the preparation of detailed reports, summaries and recommendations based on the analysis of applicable data.
  • Provides training to employees to increase their knowledge of the accreditation and compliance process. Serves as the department's liaison to outside agencies, CPSE & CFAI, as well as assisting assessors during on-site assessments for accreditation and re-accreditation.
  • Assist the Command staff with writing and/or review of all new and revised policies to ensure compliance with CPSE / CFAI and CAAS standards, best practices, and ISO rating.
  • Provides advanced technical support related to assigned program, project or planning function; participates in the development of goals and objectives; serves as technical representative providing information and solutions to address issues and needs; monitors and ensures compliance with applicable policies, plans, requirements and processes.
  • Performs research of best practices, industry standards and community needs; analyzes a variety of data and information; develops and presents program/project/plan recommendations; provides direction and support in implementing processes, programs, projects and/or procedures.
  • Coordinates, attends and facilitates meetings; prepares agendas and technical materials; reviews activity status, timelines and resource allocation; prioritizes and schedules work and activities.
  • Assists in the development of long-range and strategic planning; participates in budget development, preparation, and administration.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
  • Keeps supervisor accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.
  • May respond to emergency calls for fire, medical, and other emergency situations.
  • Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities.
  • Familiarity with developing data sets and reports
  • May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
  • In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the organization's needs.

Position Minimum Requirements
โ€ข Have and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver's License
โ€ข S.C. Firefighter and EMT-B certification or equivalent preferred.
โ€ข Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
โ€ข Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, vendors, and other County departments.
โ€ข Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access) and Adobe software.
โ€ข Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (Master Degree preferred), in Fire Administration, Emergency Management, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
โ€ข 5-8 years of Fire and EMS experience, supervisory experience preferred.
โ€ข Experience in Strategic Planning, CPSE, and CAAS Accreditation is strongly preferred.
