Job description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Planner 1 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for facilitating, coordinating, and managing supply chain planning functions supporting the production of Garmin products.
Essential Functions
  • Applies a basic understanding of supply chains, systems and processes used by specific area
  • Understands/drives accountability for department Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
  • Extracts, evaluates data, and provides for decision-making purposes
  • Recognizes issues and provides timely responses and communicates status of work clearly and provides support when called upon
  • Participates in discussions in a team initiative toward goal resolution
  • Plans own daily workload with ability to identify priorities
  • Applies Garmin's mission statement and quality policy.
  • Learns to apply and use analytical and qualitative methods to understand, predict and enhance product introduction supply chain processes
  • Plans finished goods manufacturing and distribution at Garmin production sites and Garmin distribution locations

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business Analytics or in a related operations/business field
  • Understands and implements supply chain best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and gain proficient use and knowledge of planning tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain processes
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Demonstrated professional and strong/effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate with cross functional teams/customers
  • Solid understanding of Demand Resource Planning (DRP) or Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP), and/or understanding of warehouse, manufacturing, and/or service processes

Desired Qualifications
  • Previous work or internship experience working in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Certified in Production & Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM)
  • 5+ years experience in material management, production planning, purchasing or distribution, preferably in electronics manufacturing.
  • Previous project management or team facilitator experience
