Job description

Summary:
Operate, repair, and maintain the center pivot irrigation systems and valves using appropriate equipment.
Essential Functions:
  • Monitor the voltage, resistance, and amperage of the electrical circuits, motors, and fuses for the irrigation system.
  • Perform routine maintenance of the center pivot machines and booster pumps.
  • Operate small to medium diggers, trenchers, boom trucks, and other farm equipment for the installation, repair and maintenance of the irrigation system.
  • Construct and install electrical panels for the operation of the irrigation system.
  • Test and replace electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools.

Scope and Accountability:
  • Incumbent's decisions and actions rarely and minimally impact the company's revenue and operations. Decisions and actions may have a moderate impact on reputation, and/or customer satisfaction.
  • Incumbent follows routine procedures and established guidelines, does not independently make decisions, and performs work under moderate to close supervision.
  • Work under established guidelines and controls including Corporate Social Responsibility Report, Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), NEC (National Electrical Code), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), application reports, farm equipment, Oregon Department of Agriculture, and the Oregon Department of Labor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Certified Agricultural Irrigations Specialist (CAIS) or the equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • 1+ year of related experience. Previous electrical experience or training a plus.
  • Punctual and consistent attendance.
  • Knowledge of irrigation practices and applications.
  • Knowledge of welding and metallurgy techniques.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic water valves and delivery systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Current Driver's License required.
  • Bilingual skills (English and Spanish) a plus.

Work Environment:
  • Majority of work is outdoors with some exposure to extreme weather conditions.
  • Regularly required to stand, sit, grasp, drive, lift, walk, bend, reach, kneel, turn, twist and make repetitive motions with hands and feet for up to 10 hours.
  • Regularly lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Able to work at moderate heights.
  • Substantial extra hours and ability to work weekends is required.
  • Provide own small hand tools for daily use.
  • Ability to safely wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) due to possible exposure to chemicals and the farm environment
